Yes! It's true! The wait is over and Long Story Short Media is having our much anticipated company party.
Please RSVP (RSVP@jessica-stuart.com) if you are able to join us on Nov. 16th between 7PM and 10PM at Blackbyrd in Washington, D.C.
Looking forward to seeing you in a couple of weeks!
Fall 2011 is flying by
Fall at LSS is absolutely flying by. It's hard to believe the leaves have changed, the weather is getting colder, and we STILL haven't had our launch party!!! That, however, is about to change...save the date for November 17,2011. Long Story Short..Jessica Stuart Media Inc is finally having a throw down! More to come on that later!
Production Assistant Cristina is already family here. Although she just started in September, she is already running the place! Not to mention, she won a student Emmy for her documentary, "Stateless in the Dominican Republic"! She is a rockstar!
Fall is definitely "back to school" for us as well. We delivered a video for the Harlem Education Activities Fund, began our production for the Lab School of Washington, and went to Austin to shoot for The Gates Foundation Education Team. Kimi and the West Coast team just wrapped at Arizona State University for The Gates Foundation as well! We also helped the One Campaign launch the 6th season of the One Campus Challenge by producing the launch video!.
Jessica attended the "Wakeup Call For Women and Newborns of the World", hosted by Arianna Huffington, Donna Karan, and Sarah Brown.
We continued post production from our Shoots in Brazil, Burundi, and India- all to be debuted very soon with the launch of The Global Network's End7 Campaign.
Most recently, Jessica traveled to Tanzania and Mozambique to capture stories for the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric Aids Foundation. Videos will launch toward the end of the year and beginning of 2012.
We are currently getting ready for a big week in November for Mars Candy, and gearing up for an amazing event in Los Angeles for the David Lynch Foundation.
Melissa Schmitt continues to do amazing producing work for us, and we say hello to our new freelance editor, Mat Taylor. Jen Duck is representing the West Coast along with Kimi and we are so thrilled to have her working with us!
This Fall, we said goodbye to our Brazilian intern, Bruna, and hello to our new intern Rebecca Einstein. We managed to paint a chalkboard wall (kick -ass, I might add), add a Bonzai plant and Halloween Decorations around the office. We are working our butts off, but find time to laugh and have a good time as well. Aaron still schools us on rap beats before he heads off to become a daddy any day now. And Richard still arrives on time... if we were living in a time zone somewhere around the Galapagos Islands.
Keep your eyes out for many "deliverables" in the coming weeks and definitely stay tuned for our long awaited PARTY announcement!
The West Coast Team Travels to Arizona
We are shooting Quest Atlantis geniuses at Arizona State University for The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.

Meanwhile... Back at the office...
We are holding down the fort-- and painting!
Cristina, Joe, and Bruna have been creating a magnetic chalkboard over the past week.

Day 1: "We are going to need a bigger brush."

Today: Several coats of paint later...
It will be ready for elaborate brainstorming sessions by the time The Boss returns from her latest adventures.
Tanzania and Mozambique
Stories continue as the team travels to Tanzania and Mozambique with the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation.

After many bumps in the road, the crew has finally arrived in Bihar, Patna! Thus far Jessica's age old secret remedy for foreign aliments, a healthy dose of gin and tonic, has done little to protect the crew. It seems everyone is feeling the effects of India in their own "personal" ways.
Nonetheless, the Long Story Short brigade carries on! Shooting has begun for Deworm the World in mainly school houses and small villages that are scattered across the poorest state in India.
An excerpt from Jessica's travel log describes the first three days eloquently:
"When people tell you India is an overwhelming of the senses- something that cannot be described- I didn't exactly believe it. After arriving in Delhi for a day, I still thought this was much like any third world country I've been to. But now..by day 3, I get it. Sights, smells, sounds, voices, eyes, colors, are just beyond all description once combined. Bihar is the "rice bowl" of India so rice farms are everywhere and flourescent green. The clothes the women wear are striking colors with sequins that hit the sun and reflect a million times over. Children run naked, and men with walking sticks and sheets around them line the streets. It's filthy, yet beautiful. Cows and children are swimming in the same water as women wash their clothes." -JStuart

Lab School of Washington, Round 2!

Long Story Short travels to Harlem!
The whole Long Story Short gang travelled to Harlem, New York City for an exciting shoot at the Harlem Educational Activities Fund (HEAF for short). The shoot, which was overseen by producer Kimi Culp, captured the unmistakeable energy emanating from the after school/summer program that provides a safe haven for intercity students and pushes them to become college success stories. The crew had a great time getting to know every aspect of the eclectic HEAF family! Stay tuned for the final product...
