Monsoon season in Patna!
After many bumps in the road, the crew has finally arrived in Bihar, Patna! Thus far Jessica's age old secret remedy for foreign aliments, a healthy dose of gin and tonic, has done little to protect the crew. It seems everyone is feeling the effects of India in their own "personal" ways.
Nonetheless, the Long Story Short brigade carries on! Shooting has begun for Deworm the World in mainly school houses and small villages that are scattered across the poorest state in India.
An excerpt from Jessica's travel log describes the first three days eloquently:
"When people tell you India is an overwhelming of the senses- something that cannot be described- I didn't exactly believe it. After arriving in Delhi for a day, I still thought this was much like any third world country I've been to. But now..by day 3, I get it. Sights, smells, sounds, voices, eyes, colors, are just beyond all description once combined. Bihar is the "rice bowl" of India so rice farms are everywhere and flourescent green. The clothes the women wear are striking colors with sequins that hit the sun and reflect a million times over. Children run naked, and men with walking sticks and sheets around them line the streets. It's filthy, yet beautiful. Cows and children are swimming in the same water as women wash their clothes." -JStuart
